This month, we didn’t have any shows to vend or present at, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t busy. Our local Relay for Life Fund-Raiser for the American Cancer Society was this month and I made up a bunch of “non-play” Soy Wax Candles and sold them to raise money for Relay. Our team did quite well, but I am probably going to re-think selling candles outside in New Mexico. While it worked well in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, spring in New Mexico has already seen a whole bunch of 100+ degrees days, so we had to end up getting a cooler with ice to keep them in. It just made it harder to display, yanno? Anyway, I’ll have to come up with something else to make for next year’s Relay fund-raising efforts.
Speaking of Relay, KJ Canes has this thing called the “Pink Promise”. The Pink Promise means that for every item we sell that’s PINK, we donate 10% of the sale to the American Cancer Society. In year’s past, the money went specifically for breast cancer, but both of our families have been hit so damn hard by a variety of different cancers in lots of different family members including parents, grand-parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins.
That being said, we’re now donating the Pink Promise money to the American Cancer Society. Please help by buying something pink, or… if you just want to be super sweet, you can send us a check made out to the American Cancer Society & we’ll get it to the right place. 🙂
